Men join Pinterest too

  1. My boss told me about pinterest a couple of months ago and I've been meaning to join ever since. This blog post along with the 5 million other things I have heard about it recently are definitely pushing me towards it!
I think it will be interesting to see how this evolves in terms of social media. As more things come out, the less likely I am to use it to connect with excessive number of people, given that Facebook is already covering that base. Perhaps pinterest can be something that my friends and I can use to better get to know one another's tastes!

  2. This comment isn't really about Pinterest, but about their method of getting people onto the site - through invites only. I've been amused by this kind of decision ever since Google started doing it (I believe they were the first though I could be completely off base here). It's completely the opposite of what most sites do which is to encourage as many people to sign up as physically possible. I suppose Pinterest's lack of advertising makes it less important just how many people are using the site as well, since the founders are not profiting from that in particular. It does of course add the feeling of exclusivity which many people may find very attractive in a world where internet sites are overwhelmingly public and widespread. I'm curious to see how popular this trend remains in the coming years (obviously it hasn't stopped Pinterest's site from expanding greatly over the past year, and possibly even pushed it forward).
